Capability Snapshot Inc. (CSI)
develops and sells powerful and cost effective tools primarily for business consultants
globally to enhance their services offered to their clients. These tools and products,
with the addition of trained interpretation, enable an organization to understand its
essential capabilities, those organization programs and practices which contribute to both
the organization’s survival and ongoing success. The information that quantifies the
capabilities is based on assessments of key stakeholders (employees, managers, customers,
suppliers). The proprietary manner by which information is processed and cross referenced
is the basis of the power of these tools. In addition, the growing database enables
benchmarking within and across industries and countries.
The primary product
offered by the company is the Capability Snapshot® This is a unique diagnostic
tool that in one comprehensive and integrated manner analyses an organization. In the
past, this required separate projects in market research, customer satisfaction measures,
employee opinion surveys, organization diagnostics, the evaluation of learning culture and
strategic planning.
History
Capability
Snapshot® Inc. is a federally chartered Canadian corporation founded by
Max Garfinkle, Ph.D. and Jerry Tarasofsky, B.Sc., BA in November 1993.
Their partnership began around the formation of a management consulting
firm - Mage Centers for Management Development Inc. in 1984.
The idea
for the product development was stimulated in 1992 by a project on Total
Quality that Max and Jerry were involved in as consultants with a
department of the Canadian Government - Industry and Science Canada.
Beginning in May of 1992, Max Garfinkle undertook a research of the
literature on organization development and successful organizations.
Based upon
extensive experience with a base of over 400 clients and extensive review
of organizational literature and leading-edge practices in successful
organizations, Dr. Garfinkle created the preliminary version of the
Capability Snapshot® in September 1993. Over the next twelve months, this
version was beta-tested with thirty organizations of varying sizes and
industrial sectors. The first commercial version was officially released
in the fall of 1994.
