Understanding it
The CSI Project Audit, derived from the more comprehensive
Project Performance Assessor, is a simple, but powerful tool
that can be used to assess any number of individual project teams.
It is designed to be offered and applied by project management
consultants as an extension of their services or by a project
management office internal to a large organization. The results
from this Audit can help future project teams improve or enhance
the overall project management capabilities of an organization.
The tool is entirely internet based and involves two groups of
respondents – project team members and project clients or beneficiaries.
While the Audit is based on a model faithful to the Project Management
Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), the questions are customized for each consultant
or internal service (the user) and the results from selected projects easily
compared. The model, identical to that used by the Project Performance Assessor,
embraces 5 Project Challenges and 15 Team Capabilities (3 for each Challenge).
There are 15 questions, one for each Capability scored 0 to 10, together with
4 open-ended questions.
Implementation
Each user is assigned a dedicated URL (web address) with a “set-up” input form. The user inputs
the name of the project and the email addresses of the respondents (team members and project beneficiaries).
The program automatically sends instructions by email together with the URL link to each invited respondent.
The coordinator can follow how many respondents have completed the survey and terminate it after
having received sufficient replies.
Reports
The report is automatically generated and the results available on the web aggregated at
the Project Challenge level and by Team Capability with the two groups of respondents
compared to measure the degree of alignment. The graphs and results on the web can be
easily copied into a spreadsheet for further processing and analysis or as a bitmap directly
into a written report.
Cost
This service is offered for a fixed number of project analyses independent of time or on an
annual basis independent of the number of Audits within the year.
